Posted on 25 June, 202425 February, 2025 By The Tactical Gear Guy

When selecting a body armor to wear, there can be no compromises on its functionality. The MIRA Safety Level 4 Body Armor is a multi-hit capable level 4 hard armor that is rated to stop center-fire ammunition calibers up to 30-06.

How does the MIRA Safety body armor feel?

MIRA Level 4 Body Armor with MMD Altitude

So this is going to depend on the carrier system you’re using, but I’ve used the MIRA safety level 4 body armor in multiple different carrier systems and it felt great.

It has a single curve shooters cut and fits nice and close to my torso.

The weight is just below 6 pounds per plate, which I consider to be somewhat lightweight for a level 4 hard armor 10×12″ plate.

Bullet Resistant

MIRA Level 4 Body Armor

It’s important to note that hard armor, even level 4, is not bullet-proof, but it’s bullet-resistant.

The MIRA Safety level 4 body armor is NIJ standard rated to stop ammunition such as 5.56, .308, 7.62×39, and even 30-06.

Not only that, but it’s been labelled as multi-hit, meaning even after it’s been shot with a bullet, it still has the ability to stop more rounds.

Keep in mind that the area where it was originally hit is compromised, and outwards of a couple inches give or take depending on the caliber.

Can MIRA Level 4 Body Armor stop 7.62?

Shot with 7.62×39 bullet

Yes, MIRA Safety Level 4 body armor stops 7.62 rounds with very minimal backface deformation. There also wasn’t a ton of surrounding area compromised, meaning it would be able to take quite a few rounds in different locations on the face of the body armor.

7.62×39 stopped

7.62×39 is one of the most commonly used rounds used in the world today, so knowing that the MIRA safety level 4 multi-hit body armor can resist this round extremely well is a comfort you can have if you’re serving on the front-lines.

Can MIRA Safety body armor stop 30-06 rounds?

Shot with 30-06 bullet

This body armor has been given the NIJ standard for Level 4, meaning its rated to stop rounds up to 30-06, which can pack a serious punch.

30-06 bullet stopped

We were shooting at around 50 yards, and the 30-06 at this distance has a velocity of about 2700ft/s with 2600ft/lbs of energy. So how did it do?

30-06 backface deformation

It stopped 30-06 completely with a decent amount of backface deformation. Getting hit with this round will definitely put you on your back, but you should walk away from it with only a good bruise, or broken rib at most. What really matters is that you wont have a hole through your chest.

How much can the MIRA Safety Level 4 Body Armor stop?

Shot with 300 Win Mag bullet

The MIRA Safety Level 4 body armor was able to resist the rounds that it was rated for with ease, but I didn’t want to stop there. So we bumped it up a notch with 300 Win Mag!

The 300 Win Mag round at 50 yards has a velocity of approximately 2900ft/s and around 3600ft/lbs of energy! That’s 1000ft/lbs of energy more than what the NIJ standard rated the MIRA body armor for.

300 Win Mag bullet stopped

Sure enough, it stopped 300 Win Mag, but with significant backface deformation. While you may not have a bullet hole in your chest, you may have a serious injury.

300 Win Mag backface deformation

That being said, I’m still extremely impressed that it the MIRA Safety Level 4 body armor withstood the .300 Win Mag bullet at less than 50 yards. Even after being shot twice with other rounds!

Conclusion

Highly capable Level 4 Body Armor

The MIRA Safety Level 4 body armor is definitely multi-hit capable and rated to stop rounds up to 30-06. Although we tested this body armor up to 300 Win Mag, it is not rated for this round.

I’m extremely impressed with how little backface deformation there was with the 7.62×39 round. This round is very commonly used around the world today.

If you’re looking for a lightweight, affordable, and highly effective body armor, then check out MIRA Safety for the latest pricing on their Level 4 Multi-Hit 10×12″ Plates.

Thanks for reading this review! I hope it’s been helpful and informative for you to live, fight, and move.
